  • Span the CBT tail (COF250) to another pole.
  • Correctly route the SST cable down the pole to a jointing position.
  • Install a CBT and External Line Module (ELM) on the pole in the correct position.
  • Span ULW fibre (COF215) between poles.
  • Fit an ULW fibre intermediate clamp.
  • Correctly route ULW fibre down a pole.

These prerequisites ensure that participants have a foundational understanding of safety and operational procedures necessary for overhead network work.

Assessment

Assessment for the N27 course consists of two components:

  • Written Questionnaire: A 45-minute test designed to evaluate the participant's theoretical knowledge of overhead fibre cabling practices.
  • Practical Assessment: Participants undertake specific tasks, such as installing a CBT on a pole, spanning cables between poles, and routing cables to jointing positions. These practical exercises are conducted under supervision to assess competency in real-world scenarios.

Certification

Upon successful completion of both the written and practical assessments, learners will be awarded an Openreach approved ATS Group Certificate detailing N27 One Fibre Network Cabling in the Overhead Network. This certification is recognised within the telecommunications industry and validates the individual's capability to perform overhead fibre cabling tasks to Openreach's standards.
