Q025 (FCFW1) Frame and Cover Footway

Advance Your Skills in Manhole Frame and Cover Renewal

What is the Q025 (FCFW1) Frame and Cover Footway course?

The Q025 (FCFW1) Frame and Cover Footway course is an Openreach-accredited training programme designed to equip engineers and contractors with the essential skills and knowledge required to renew manhole frames and covers within footway environments. This course ensures that learners can perform these tasks in compliance with Openreach's quality standards and current working practices.

Course Content

What can I expect from the Q025 (FCFW1) training course?

Learners can anticipate a blend of theoretical instruction and practical application during this one-day course. Key components include:

  • Understanding Manhole Structures: Gaining insights into the components and functions of manhole frames and covers within the Openreach network.
  • Renewal Techniques: Learning the correct methods for removing, renewing, and installing manhole frames and covers, ensuring compliance with Openreach's quality standards.
  • Safety Protocols: Emphasising adherence to safety procedures to protect both personnel and infrastructure during renewal activities.
  • Practical Application: Engaging in hands-on exercises that allow learners to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world scenarios under expert supervision.

Entry Requirements

learners are required to meet the following prerequisites before enrolling in the Q025 (FCFW1) Frame and Cover Footway course:

Mandatory Certifications:

  • NRSWA Street Works Qualification – Unit 01 (Signing, Lighting, and Guarding): Ensures that learners are competent in managing street works safely and in compliance with regulations.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):

Learners must come equipped with the following PPE to ensure safety during the training:

  • High-Visibility (Hi-Vis) Clothing: To ensure visibility in various working environments.
  • Safety Boots: Protective footwear to safeguard against potential hazards.
  • Safety Helmet (with 4-point chin strap): To protect the head from potential impacts, with the chin strap ensuring the helmet remains securely in place.
  • Gloves: To protect hands from abrasions, cuts, and other potential injuries.
  • Eye Protection: Safety glasses or goggles to shield the eyes from debris and other hazards.

Note: Failure to bring the required PPE may result in exclusion from the course, with associated charges still applicable.

Assessment

The assessment process evaluates both theoretical knowledge and practical skills:

  • Theoretical Assessment: Learners will complete a written questionnaire designed to assess their understanding of manhole frame and cover renewal practices, safety protocols, and quality standards.
  • Practical Assessment: Learners will undertake hands-on renewal tasks within a controlled environment. This assessment evaluates their ability to apply learned techniques, adhere to safety protocols, and meet the established quality standards during actual renewal scenarios.

Certification

Upon successful completion of both the theoretical and practical assessments, learners will be awarded an Openreach approved accreditation for the Q025 (FCFW1) module. This certification serves as formal recognition of the individual's competency in renewing manhole frames and covers within footway environments, enhancing their professional credentials and expanding their career opportunities in the telecommunications sector
