In order to book onto this course, you'll need the following:
Assessment
Learners are assessed through:
Certification
Successful completion leads to awarding the CPCS A40B Red Trained Operator card - A40B (Static Duties), valid for 2 years
Within that period, you may complete an NVQ Level 2 in Controlling Lifting Operations (Slinger/Signaller) to upgrade to the CPCS Blue Competent Operator Card, valid for 5 years

No, it’s designed for beginners. Just ensure you've completed the CITB Health Safety and Environment test in the last 2 years, have the appropriate PPE and ID.
What’s the difference between the CPCS Slinger Signaller A40A and A40B?
A40A covers all lift duties including mobile cranes and pick-and-carry; A40B is for static cranes only .

Will I gain onsite competence after the course?
Following the A40B course, the Red card allows you to work unsupervised on-site. To further your career—and renew your card—you’ll need to complete the NVQ to upgrade to Blue.
