What does the SPA Petrol Retail Contractors Safety Passport course cover?

Day 1 – SPA Core (Health & Safety Fundamentals)

Covers essential health & safety principles applicable across industries:

• Workplace hazards (fire, asbestos, confined spaces, working at height)
• Tools, plant and machinery safety
• Occupational health & manual handling

Day 2 – Petrol Retail (Forecourt Safety)

Focuses on hazards and controls specific to petrol retail environments:

• Fuel properties and associated hazards
• DSEAR and hazardous area classification
• Delivery and vapour recovery risks
• Restricted and hazardous forecourt zones
• Customer and contractor hazards
• Controlling work on a forecourt (permits, method statements, communication)

What are the entry requirements for the SPA Passport course?

There are no formal prerequisites; however:

• Delegates must have a good understanding of English
• Previous health & safety qualifications may allow exemption from Day 1, please enquire with the training provider.

Delegates will complete a multiple-choice assessment at the end of the course.
A pass mark is required to achieve certification.

Upon successful completion, delegates will receive a:

• SPA Petrol Retail Safety Passport (Photo ID Card)

This certificate is typically valid for 3 years.
